 The ''mark of the lion'' Trilogy by Francine Rivers 

Was by far the best series I've ever read! 

I wasn't able to put any of the novels out of my mind, once i started reading them. You feel like you have traveled back in time and landed in the roman world. 

In book one, we follow Hadassah, a little christian girl from Judea, whose family was killed during the conquest of Jerusalem by Titus, so of the roman emporer Vespasian. She is being sold as a slave to the Valerians, a wealthy family in Rome, where she meets Marcus Valerian. They both start developing feelings for each other. Despite all odds, Hadassah stands firm in her faith in God. We also follow the story of Atretes from the Germanic tribe of the Chatti. His homeland was conquered by Domitian, the other son of Vespasien, and he is being brought to the arena and trained to become a gladiator for the roman games. His only goal in life is taking revenge on Rome for killing his people and using him for entertainment.

While the first book ist about how Hadassahs faith in God strengthens more and more, the second is about Marcus' journey, who tries to find Hadassahs God and the third is about Artetes.

Francine Rivers has truly outdone herself in writing the characters. They are so deep that you might think of them as real persons you have known exactly why the do what they do. This trilogy has touched my heart and left its märk on in because Rivers shows us how we can implement the world of the Bible to our own life and our own Problems, even in rough times. 

I hope you will all enfoy Reading the ''mark of the lion'' series as much as i did!
